As a committed member of the Green Building Council of Australia, Aspen ensured that all GBCA Green Star rating categories were addressed during building design and construction of Tower 1 to achieve a 5 Star Australian Excellence standard. On 5 May, 2006, the Green Building Council of Australia announced that Tower 1 had been awarded a 5 Star Green Star – Office Design V2 certified rating, the first project in South Australia to achieve this standard.

During the design phase the State government took the opportunity to deliver on its strategic environmental policy for the State by committing the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology along with the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure as anchor tenants. Before the building was completed others also recognised the benefits of being part of the new environmental vision and the first class working environment offered to all occupants. In fact, shortly after the building was opened by Premier Mike Rann on 3 May 2007, all floor space was taken up by a mix of other professional organisations and government departments.

In total there is more than 30,000sqm of net lettable office space over 21 levels, basement car parking on two levels and a ground floor food court. The open plan floor plates with a side lift and services core have full height, double glazed windows offering panoramic views, as well as an excellent level of natural light.
